Year 9 can be really tough. You've just arrived at a new school with a new way of doing things, and you're now one of the youngest
kids in the school. This guide is here to give you tips on little things you can do to make your first year at highschool just that
little bit easier.

Step 1. Appearance

Appearance is a big part of first impressions, so it cant hurt to wake up a little bit earlier for the first week to do your hair,
but dont think too much about it. Constantly worrying about your looks will just stress you out and the last thing you need is to be
forgetting books and equipment. Plus there are hundreds of other kids that are attending your school, year 9-13, that are worrying
about how they look as well. No ones going to notice that annoying little pimple on your forehead or that your uniforms second hand.

Step 2. Making Friends

Making friends may seem like an impossible task and you might already have friends from middle school that have come with you
but making friends is one of the most important things when trying to settle down in any new school. You dont necessarily have to
come straight out at people and ask them to be your friend, the best way is to just start talking to them, try to sit next to the
people you think are cool. After a while when you think you are close to them, ask if you can hang out with them. try to make at
one friend in each class and if you can, try to gain a connection with an older student. You're more likely to gain the respect
of other older kids if you know one.

Step 3. Being Prepared

Being prepared for your classes is the best thing you can do to keep you happy about schoool. Forgetting textbooks PE gear
or homework assignments can make school twice as stressful as it needs to be. Sure you might be toppled with homework but if you
canset aside an hour of your time every once in a while, you'll like your teachers a lot more and you dont have to worry each and
every morning about how much trouble you'll be in. To keep on top of this, make sure you check your bag once before you go to
bed and once more in the morning. Have a look at your timetable to check your classes and write down when your homeworks due so
that you dont forget. Having teachers that like you, regardless of if you like them, makes class so much easier and more enjoyable.
